ABOUT US

Amani Women Center (AWC) provides culturally tailored programs and services that empower and contribute to the economic security, spiritual, mental, and physical well-being of refugees and immigrant women.  

PROGRAMS

• The Amani Sewing Academy-ASA (workforce development and job placement). A holistic approach that includes life skills training, women empowerment, survivors & victims services, financial literacy, civic engagement, & our unique ESL buddy project.

• The Healthy Families Program-HFP (health equity, FGM/C resources, mental health, counseling, domestic violence prevention, sexual assault advocacy, human and social services, emergency assistance & general community support services.   

• The Amani Community Ambassadors Leadership Program-ACALP (translation & interpretation, research, community health education, immigration services, community outreach, advocacy, mobilization, navigation, promotion, and canvassing).

Applicants will hear from the County between 7-14 days by email or you can check with your leasing office. * Seniors 60 years old or plus without dependents are encouraged to apply.
* AWC’s Healthy Families Program (HFP) includes various supportive services and emergency assistance to refugees, survivors, program participants and families in crisis. Translation and interpretation assistance in Amharic, Dari, Pashto, Kiswahili, Arabic, French, Kinyarwanda, Lingala, Somali and Tigrinya includes screening and helping the community with public benefits such as LIHEAP, SNAP, CAPS, WIC, TANF, MEDICAID, Rental Assistance, Georgia Pathways, Immigration resources, referrals and much much more.
